Slingerlands Bypass NY Route 85
The project involves the reconstruction of 1.75 miles of roadway and the new construction of 1.5 mile of limited-access highway along Slingerlands Bypass on NY Route 85. The reconstruction portion of the project involved widening an existing two-lane undivided highway section to a four-lane divided highway. The existing bridge structure was modified and widened to accommodate the roadway. The new construction portion of the project includes building a four-lane divided highway on new alignment. The project also included the construction of three 2-lane modern roundabouts. Slingerlands Bypass was a pilot project for NYSDOT for the integration of automated machine control grading and the use of Quantity Manager, a Bentley system that utilizes GPS technology. CME developed three-dimensional, digital terrain models (DTMs) of the project design, which were delivered to the contractor to facilitate the layout and construction of the project.
Creighton Manning Engineering, as prime consultant on this NYSDOT project, was responsible for the preparation of all preliminary and final highway design plans and the environmental impact statement (EIS). Creighton Manning also prepared air, noise and energy analyses for the EIS. Additional services provided by the firm include:
