Downtown Glens Falls Project Wins Awards
Glen and Bay Streets Rehabilitation Project Recognized
Albany – April 23 – Creighton Manning Engineering was recently honored with several industry awards for the downtown Glens Falls construction project. The American Council of Engineering Companies of New York presented a Platinum Award for Engineering Excellence to Creighton Manning Engineering for the Glen and Bay Streets rehabilitation project. ACEC presented the award on March 29 at its annual black-tie dinner dance in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.
The Glen and Bay Streets project was honored by ACEC for its innovation, technical value, social and economic impact and complexity. One of the most striking elements of the project is a roundabout at the five-leg intersection in the heart of the historic downtown business district.
In addition, Creighton Manning Engineering, the City of Glens Falls and Kubricky Construction were also recognized by the American Public Works Associations (APWA). The Glen and Bay Streets Rehabilitation project was honored as the 2007 Transportation Project of the Year by the APWA Capital Branch and the APWA New York Chapter. Jeffrey W. Pangburn, P.E., the design project manager with Creighton Manning Engineering, accepted the awards on behalf of the project team.
Creighton Manning Engineering was responsible for surveying, traffic engineering, highway design, public participation and construction inspection for this $9 million locally-administered Federal aid project. The LA Group of Saratoga Springs was the landscape architect on the project. The project provided full depth reconstruction of the city streets, new granite curb, concrete sidewalks, streetscape improvements, new storm sewer, water line betterment and lining of a combined sanitary sewer line. The project is located in the Three Squares Historic District in downtown Glens Falls.
